Ministry of Transport Launches Mobile Money Platform for Vehicle Registration and Driver’s License Payments

Monrovia, January 13, 2026 — The Ministry of Transport has officially launched a new digital payment platform that allows Liberians to pay for vehicle registration and driver’s license services using mobile money and card-based systems, marking a major step toward modernizing public service delivery in the country.

The launch took place Tuesday at the Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia and brought together senior government officials, members of the Legislature, heads of ministries and agencies, development partners, transport operators, and other stakeholders.

Serving as Chief Launcher, the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Hon. Dorbor Jallah, described the initiative as a transformative reform aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and public trust in government systems.

“Today is not just about launching a system,” Commissioner General Jallah said during his keynote address. “Today is about progress. Today is about reform. Today is about how Liberia chooses to move forward.”

He noted that for many years, vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal processes were characterized by long queues, cash payments, and delays that discouraged compliance. According to him, the new platform changes that narrative by making payments simpler, faster, and more secure.

“With this new system—integrated with mobile money and card payment—we are making public services simple, secure, and modern,” Jallah said. “Digital payment is not just about technology; it is about trust.”

The Commissioner General emphasized that digital transactions reduce revenue leakages, improve record accuracy, and enhance transparency, all of which strengthen confidence in government institutions. He added that the LRA’s experience has shown that citizens are more willing to comply when systems are fair, transparent, and easy to use.

“From cash to confidence. From paper to platform. From stress to simplicity,” he remarked.

Jallah praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and the Liberia Revenue Authority, stating that inter-agency cooperation is critical to national development. “When institutions work together—Liberia wins,” he said.

He further explained that the initiative aligns with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which emphasizes accountability, reform, service delivery, and the use of technology to improve governance.

The expected impact of the new system, officials said, will be seen when vehicle and driver’s license renewals take minutes instead of days, compliance becomes routine rather than burdensome, and citizens feel respected in their interactions with government.

In his concluding remarks, Commissioner General Jallah formally declared the system operational.

“In my capacity as Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority and as Chief Launcher of this initiative, I hereby officially launch the new Vehicle Registration and Driver’s License System of the Republic of Liberia,” he announced. “A system powered by digital payments. A system built for the people. A system designed for the future.”

The Ministry of Transport said nationwide rollout and public awareness efforts will follow to ensure smooth adoption of the new platform across the country.
