Ministry of Transport Honors and Certificates Mr. Selikie Sesay as First Liberian to Drive from France to Liberia by Land
The Ministry of Transport has honored and certified Mr. Selikie Sesay, the first Liberian to successfully drive a vehicle from France to Liberia by land, marking a historic and unprecedented achievement in Liberia’s transportation sector.
The special recognition ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Transport, Hon. Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, who formally awarded Mr. Sesay the title of *Ambassador for Land Transport* for the Ministry of Transport, in recognition of his courage, determination, and exceptional contributions to promoting land transport in Liberia.
Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Tyler described Mr. Sesay’s journey from France to Liberia as an unprecedented feat in Liberia's history. He lauded Mr. Sesay for his resilience and bold initiative, noting that such a journey demonstrates the possibilities of regional and international land connectivity. The Minister further praised him for choosing to return home to his country of birth and use his experience to inspire young Liberians.
“Mr. Sesay’s journey is not only a personal achievement but a national pride. Driving from Europe to Liberia by land is a powerful statement of courage, endurance, and commitment to the country,” Minister Tyler stated.
Receiving the honor, Mr. Selikie Sesay expressed gratitude to the Government of Liberia and the Ministry of Transport for recognizing his efforts. He pledged to invest his knowledge and experience in training other Liberians who are willing to learn and grow in the transport and mechanical sectors.
Mr. Sesay is a professional mechanic who has obtained several technical trainings abroad. He has returned home to transfer skills and empower Liberians within his field of profession, particularly young people interested in automotive engineering and land transport services.
The honoring and certification ceremony took place on *Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the **Minister’s Conference Hall* at the Ministry of Transport in Monrovia, and was attended by senior officials of the Ministry, staff, and guests.
