A joint general motor vehicle, driver’s license inspection exercise has been officially launched by the Ministry of Transport, the Liberia Revenue Authority and the Liberia National Police in Monrovia.


Officially launching the exercise on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Ministry of Transport in Monrovia, Deputy Transport Minister for Land & Rail, Hon. Juanita T. Bropleh said the exercise is in line with the Ministry’s functions in ensuring that vehicles of all categories plying the streets and highways of Liberia meet their annual tax obligations to the Government of Liberia by regularizing their registrations. She said the exercise is not intended to strangulate citizens and residents as many may negatively perceive. Continuing, the Deputy Minister said one who pays tax has demonstrated true love for his country because it is through taxes that government is able to undertake her numerous national development programs. Concluding, she called on members of the driving public to fully cooperate with members of the joint inspection team for the success of the exercise and equally urged on members of the joint team to treat the public with courtesy in the discharge of their duties.


In brief separate remarks, Deputy Commissioner General for Operations and Technical Affairs and Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Honorable Dekontee King Sackie and Col. Gragory Coleman, expressed happiness for the exercise and called on the public to give their fullest cooperation to the joint enforcement team.


Transport Minister, Honorable Samuel A. Wlue who attended the program, also expressed happiness and urged members of the joint team to proceed to work.
