RFIR Convenes Ministerial Council Meeting in Monrovia

Monday, May 09, 2016: A One-day Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Roberts Flight Information Region (RFIR) was held on Thursday, May 05, 2016 at the Headquarters of the RFIR at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County. The meeting was a continuation of an earlier Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers in Conakry, Guinea in March of this year. The Ministers deliberated on the succession plan within the organization among other matters.

Addressing the Official opening session, Liberia’s Transport Minister, Hon. Angela Cassell Bush, wholeheartedly welcomed her Colleagues, Honorable Oye Guilavogui, Minister of Transport, of the Republic of Guinea, and Honorable Leonard Balongo Koroma, Minister of Transport and Aviation, of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and Members of their Delegations to Liberia and expressed optimism that the meeting will be characterized by mutual understanding so that it will achieve its objectives, and forge regional cooperation.

For his part, the Guinean Minister of Transport, Honorable Oye Guilavogui said he was delighted to be in Liberia for the first time and considers Liberia as his home. He then called on his colleagues to engage the meeting with open mind so that pertinent issues especially the succession plan in the organization that was not resolved during the last Ministerial Council Meeting held in Conakry, Republic of Guinea can be amicably laid to rest.

A closed-meeting was suggested and unanimously agreed amongst the Ministers.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Technical Committee of the RFIR which comprises the Director-Generals of Civil Aviation of Member States and the Secretariat headed by the Secretary General.
