Hon. Angela Cassell Bush Takes Over Transport Ministry

The newly appointed Minister of Transport, Hon Angela Cassell Bush has promised to collaborate, coordinate and cooperate with her principal Deputies and Assistants including transport related stakeholders and partners aimed at ensuring the goal and strategies of the Ministry of Transport.
 
Minister Bush made the assertion during her official takeover program held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Ministry of Transport in Monrovia. Minister Angela Cassell Bush took over the mantle of authority of the Ministry from former Transport Minister, Hon. S. Tornorlah Varpilah who served as Minister of Transport from April 8, 2013 to August 22, 2014. In a brief turn-over statement, former Minister Varpilah commended the staffers at the Ministry of Transport for the enormous support rendered him during his tenure. He further extended his thanks and appreciation to members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) for their collaborative efforts and administrative support during the period. Former Minister Varpilah described Transport Ministry’s employees as “Hardworking and respectful people”, who over the years have shown their ultimate commitment in the discharge of their respective duties to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Ministry are achieved.
 
Concluding, former Minister Varpilah urged the employees of the Ministry to continue their hard work, and commitment to duties under the administration of Hon. Angela Cassell Bush as she steers the affairs of the ministry.
 
For her part, the newly appointed Transport Minister said she is extremely delighted to have been preferred by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and confirmed by the Honorable Liberian Senate as Minister of Transport. She thanked outgoing Minister Varpilah for the job well done and said a foundation for the formal advancement of the transport sector with the adoption of the sector Master Plan has been laid. Minister Bush said, “In order to enhance total quality Management, my administration desires growth, efficiency and productivity in the sector which will be driven by the elements and principals of change Management”. We will strive to build an administration that will be guarded by transparency, accountability and a well-defined staff development programs as well as influence the ‘One-Stop-Shop’ concept at the Ministry of Transport,” Minister Bush emphasized amidst thunderous applause.
 
The occasion was graced by members of the Senior Management Team, Directors and Assistant Directors of the Ministry, the Press as well as invited guests.
