Transport Ministry Clears License Plates Backlog

The Ministry of Transport has cleared the processing of backlog of License Plates in its system; some dating back to January, 2015.

In a Press Release issued in Monrovia today, the Ministry of Transport announced that additional five thousand plates have completed processing and are ready for pick up by vehicle operators.

With the clearing of the backlog, the Ministry of Transport is now current to the issuance of License Plates. The clearing of the backlog of license plates was done by a joint taskforce from the Motor Vehicle Division of the Ministry headed by Mr. Luther Harmon, Officer-In-Charge.

Meanwhile, nearly nine thousand Government of Liberia License Plates have arrived in the country and deposited at the International Bank Liberia to be distributed to various Government Agencies by the General Services Agency (GSA). License plates for Consular and Diplomatic Corps have also been turned over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for distribution.l

It can be recalled that in the month of March, 2015, the Government of Liberia entered into a contract with Union Strong Group, a 100% Liberian-owned Company for the production and supply of License Plates and Stickers. Distribution of the License Plates began in July with the clearing up of the backlog that has now been completed.
