The Government of Liberia has announced a resolution in the dispute over the importation of thirty (30) registered Guinean Trucks that were brought into Liberia to work for the World Food Program (WFP).

A Transport Ministry Press Release issued in Monrovia today stated the matter was resolved through negotiations hosted by Transport Minister, Angela Cassell Bush. Taking part in the discussion were WFP representative Mr. Thomas Thompson, Mr. William Dewalt, President of the Port Truckers Association of Liberia, and Mr. Dorbor Jallah, Deputy Manager of the Incident Management System (IMS).

It can be recalled that thirty trucks were brought in the country by the WFP and were prevented from working in Liberia based upon the complaint of the Port Truckers Association.

The resolution requires the Guinean Trucking Company to regularize the registration and legal requirements with the Government of Liberia. The three-month contract with the WFP will be allowed to proceed after all the formalities have been satisfied.

Meanwhile, the Transport Ministry has commended the Truckers Association for their understanding in light of the tremendous contribution being made in the fight against EBOLA by World Food Programme (WFP).

In another major development, the Ministry of Transport and the Union Strong Group Inc. have signed a five-year contract for the production and supply of Vehicle License Plates and Registration Stickers.
