MOT TO PROMULGATE ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION

-To Govern Motor Vehicle Importation and Sales-

Pursuant with Chapter 37, Section 37.3 of the 1987 Act of Legislative creating and establishing the Ministry of Transport within the Executive Branch of Government, the Ministry is contemplating promulgating an administrative regulation to govern the importation of motor vehicle and sales within the Republic of Liberia.

The regime governing the importation of motor vehicles and sales will operate within a regulatory framework which strives to enhance predictability, fairness and transparency via specific and selective policy guidelines that place emphasis on Road Safety, Consumer Protection, Revenue Protection and collection, Efficiency and Effectiveness of the motor vehicle market in Liberia, etc.

The regulations are to include all activities dealing with vehicles (New/Used) designed for use on land which is neither aircraft nor watercraft and all other activities dealing with transport, whether directly or indirectly. It will include but not limited to automobiles, earth moving equipment, motorcycles, automotive repair, assembly, maintenance, parking lots, garages and workshops, spare parts, cars rental and leasing.
