MOT SUBMITS DRAFT AXLE LOAD LAW

In an effort to curtail the fast destruction of Liberia’s road infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport under the able leadership of Honorable Angela Cassell Bush has submitted to the Office of the President of Liberia for review, deliberations and subsequent passage into law a proposed Axle Load Law. The President through a transmittal cover has forwarded the Draft Axle Load Law to the National Legislature.

The proposed new law is intended to enact certain measures that will control the usage of Liberia’s streets and highways to avoid the rapid destruction of the country’s roads.

The new law when passed by the National Legislature, will stop certain kinds of vehicles from using certain roads, and will restrict the amount of load a vehicle can carry based on the number of Axles the vehicle has.

Certain regulations will be promulgated by the Ministry of Transport immediately after the passage of the new bill to make the provisions of the bill more effective.

Information will be made available to the general public as to how the regulations will be effected.
