Thursday, July 11, 2019: As part of its annual work program, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has bestowed honor on the Ministry of Transport for being the sector Ministry that raised the highest government revenue during the 2018/2019 fiscal period.

This colorful event took place on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Paynesville City Corporation Town Hall during the annual Taxpayer Appreciation Day for 2018/2019 where several other business entities and groups were also honored for being tax compliant. 

Presenting the prestigious award to Acting Transport Minister, Hon. J. Darious Kollie, amidst thunderous applause from employees of the Ministry and other well wishers, Cabinet Director Jordan Sulunteh congratulated the Ministry Of Transport for the laudable achievement in raising such a huge revenue for the government and urged other agencies to emulate this great example demonstrated by the Ministry of Transport. He said taxes are the back bones of any government.

Making welcome remarks earlier, Liberia Revenue Authority Commissioner General, Hon. Thomas Doe Nah, said the intent of the annual award program is to recognize and appreciate the efforts of those agencies and groups that contribute to the national revenue envelope, upon which the government relies to meet its numerous commitments to the people.     

The occasion was graced by several top ranking officials of government including Asociate Justice Yusuf Kaba, Finance & Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweh, Commerce & Industry Minister, Professor Wilson K. Tarpeh, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, local and foreign business executives, the Press among others.
